Public intelligence. Private people.
Why signals, neighborhood conversation, and consented People sharing have different data and trust boundaries.
A friendship is not permission to see someone’s location. Public analysis must stay separate from private sharing.
Three spaces with different purposes
NOW and the map organize current local information. Community supports area-based posts and replies. People supports trusted connections and optional location sharing. These spaces should not inherit one another’s visibility or evidence rules.
A Community discussion is not automatically a verified signal. A People location grant is not public intelligence data. This site reads only existing public event and news interfaces plus a public aggregate.
Sharing needs a current grant
People access depends on a live sharing grant, its recipient, precision, expiration, and revocation. Blocking overrides an existing grant. The current implementation publishes location through a foreground flow; this documentation does not claim background tracking.
The public analysis selects a bounded list of event fields. It does not fetch friend lists, personal location grants, phone numbers, account identifiers, private messages, or raw intake records.
The experience around the intelligence
The app combines local signals, maps and place discovery, source-linked news, category-specific reporting and responses, Community, People, alerts, and saved reports and places. Cached information remains distinguishable from a live retrieval.
The web assistant is a web feature. This documentation does not describe live video, route optimization, or a sensor network as shipped capabilities. Availability depends on supported areas, data, permissions, and release state.
